INGREDIENTS
- 300 g All Purpose Flour
- 120 g cornstarch
- 2 ½ tsp Baking powder
- 70 g Yeast (1 packet)
- 60 g Granulated Sugar
- 1 tsp Salt
- 2 tbsp Vegetable oil
- ¾ cup Warm water
DIRECTIONS
-
Add all of the dry ingredients to one bowl and mix well. Slowly pour in the water until the dough forms.
-
On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough for 7 -10 minutes or until a smooth ball forms and bounces back to the touch. Place into a greased bowl, cover with cling film and a towel then allow to rise for 1 hour.
-
Once the dough has doubled in size, punch down and and turn onto a lightly floured surface. Roll out the dough into a large rectangle then use any circular shape to cut out rounds.
-
Place the individual rounds onto parchment sheets. Use a little vegetable oil to brush onto the surface of the circles before folding into halves. Cover with cling film and allow to rise again for another 30 minutes.
-
Take a large pot and place a vegetable steaming basket inside. Fill with water just under the surface of the basket and put the stove on medium high heat.
-
When the pot starts to steam place a few of the buns inside place the lid on and steam for 5 - 6 minutes. Remove and repeat the process until all the buns have steamed.
